7am awake and straight to back bed snuggles, which turned into tickles by Oliver, which turned into a dogpile on me! When I finally dug myself out from under three people, I took my revenge by pulling the duvet off them all and holding a bag of frozen peas against their bare backs!! Hahahahaaaaaa! I made coffee, but we had no milk left for cereal... would have to have yogurt or oatmeal for breakfast today.
Exciting day today! We pick up my parents from Phoenix Airport this afternoon! That means a big clean up of our little home on wheels so that we can fit two more bodies in this thing! The kids did their magic with our under-the-seat pantry of all our canned goods... They made their pantry checklist so we can see what we have and cross things out and add as we buy them. They also cleared all the art supplies and papers etc from around the dinette... it's never looked so clear, haha!! Now Gma and Papa will have room to sit down and even have space for their feet! a miracle.
After the clean up, Jonathan and I both went for showers (gotta take advantage of shower facilities when you have 'em). It was11am by now and we were just about ready to depart... one of the KOA workers popped by to remind us that check out is 11am. On it!!
Departed just after 11am and heard that the I-10 East was totally backed up between here and Red Rock. There was a semi-truck fire at about 5:30am. Westbound was okay, thankfully!
11:30am we stopped at the Tractor Supply Co (TSC) for propane and the Walmart for groceries so we were well stocked before picking up our special guests.
We got to Terminal 4 at Phoenix Airport to the West Jet pick up zone... Jonathan drove slowly through the pick up zone (we just made clearance with our tall rig!). I hopped out and scanned the crowds for my mum and dad, while keeping a close eye on the RV as it crept along, and sending imessage texts to mum's phone. I just hopped back in as it got close to the end of the pick up zone and "Ding!"... we got a text from mum that they were at door 2. We were at door 8 at the end... they hustled their way down and found us! Yay!! big hugs and bustled them into the rig.
By 2pm our troop was back on the Hwy headed south to Tucson (about a 2hr drive). We stopped at a rest stop for a tea and snack break.
More driving from 3:30-5:30pm with some bad traffic. Still backed up from the semi-truck fire early this morning. Slow but steady... we made it to the Tucson KOA where we booked a campsite for the rig and a little cabin for mum and dad that had a bunk room for the kiddos.
Arrived in the dark. Got all settled into the cabin - super cute with a little kitchen/living room area, bedroom with double bed and bunk room... kids excited about the bunk room that had two bunk beds. The wifi was super annoying to try and connect. Very complicated with odd passwords and sites to navigate to get it to work. Kinda frustrating since it was the only way mum and dad could use their phones.
We decided it was easier to cook and eat dinner in the rig. I made fried tofu (breaded in the Slap Yo Mama coating mix Jonathan bought in New Orleans - yum) with Korean veggie dumplings, and rice and veg. Fancy, fancy, haha.
Kiddos got their bunks ready and were allowed to watch a bit of TV before bedtime. There were sheets provided, but only one fitted sheet - the rest top sheets. We managed. And had brought their duvets and fuzzy blankets and stuffies from the RV for them.
