DAY 133 : November 17/22 Thursday. KOA Tucson, Arizona

Jay and I woke up around 8am --- it was soooooo quiet in the rig! no little people jumping on us! Meanwhile in the cabin, the kiddos were up at 7am quietly tiptoeing around and making their own breakfast then playing with the multitude of top sheets. They picked fresh grapefruit off the tree outside the cabin (the campground was full of lemon, orange, and grapefruit trees that guests were encouraged to pick and enjoy).

Next up... pool time! This pool was a much more suitable temperature for swimming than the last two! We basically had the pool to ourselves for much of the swim. Weather was sunny and warm and perfect for sunbathing and swimming.  The kids showed Grandma and Papa all their new swimming and snorkeling skills in the pool. We all enjoyed the hot tub, too!

After a glorious swim, we had tuna sandwiches for lunch (insert Amelia saying, "you told everyone what we were having for lunch, too??!!!!" - she thinks there is too much detail - it's really all about me and the vibe of the day and my brain just includes weird details... like tuna sandwiches).

We all went for a walk around the grounds (this KOA is legit... very big and resorty). Found some fun animal sculptures by the front entrance and also discovered the little mini-golf courses throughout the grounds. Also noted they had some super fun bikes and trikes you could rent out to cruise around the campground. Too pricey per hour to bother renting, but they looked pretty fun and colourful.

Gma and Papa took the kids back to the cabin to hang out while Jonathan and I went to have a soak in the hot tub. We met a couple from Ontario who sold their home and bought and RV and are traveling permanently. There was also another lady from Oregon who road bikes all over. They were all super nice and we had great chats and they shared some intel about the Tucson area and things to check out. One of the big ones was doing Mt. Lemmon -- a drive that takes you up a drive to 9000ft elevation through all the different bio-geo climatic zones. They also recommended the BioSphere.

Jonathan and went back to the rig armed with information to make some plans, then get my folks and the kids back to the RV for fish tacos. We couldn't find the Mahi-Mahi we usually buy and so we had purchased swordfish. It was not as good as the MM, but still made for a yummy meal. Kids did their magic with the guacamole and fresh salsa as usual.

With our plans for the next couple of days penciled out, we decided to stay at the KOA another night and do a day outing from here tomorrow. Dad and I had walked over to the office to check if a cabin/site might be available for tomorrow and she said the cabin for sure, but not sure about sites. We said we would come back later and confirm.

Hung out at the cabin and had wine, kids tired but still trying to set up stuffies and wrap themselves in sheets etc. Kiddos were super tired. Dad and Jonathan walked over to the office around 8:30pm to confirm the booking but the office had closed at 8pm, so I booked the cabin online and figured we may just try to park the rig beside the cabin in the large parking spot behind it and avoid paying for an extra site (especially since tomorrow was the first night of the weekend and nothing is likely available). Will check in with the office tomorrow about the cabin.

Said goodnight to the kiddos and off Jay and I went to the rig again for a quiet night.
