It was so hot yesterday that we had kept the AC on 76F all night to maintain the cool. This morning in the very early part of the morning it poured rain until around 9am.
Morning swim at the KOA Niagara Falls (had the pool to ourselves for a brief period) while Jonathan did the sani dump for the rig and decided on parking options for the day while we went down to Falls Avenue/Clifton Hill. I think the rain made it so the pool was fairly quiet.
Morning Mini Golf session with dad.
Uber'd back to the bustle and had lunch at Kelsey's on the main strip before we had to be at the dock for our 1:30pm time slot on the Niagara City Cruises (formerly Maid of the Mist).
Perfectly timed to take the boat cruise... Monday afternoon on a misty/light rain day. We walked straight on and the boat was not full. Lots of room to see the sights and get soaked by the mist from the falls. We got absolutely soaked through. Very fun.
Met this working bird... Dallas the Harris Hawk, who patrols the skies around the docks and surrounding areas to keep seagulls and other birds out of the way. He also works at the airport. Had a nice time chatting with his handler about the work they do.
Oliver had spied this 6D experience called Zombie Attack before the boat ride and couldn't wait to go on it. It was probably the most reasonably priced attraction we participated in on Clifton Hill. Ollie and Jonathan went in together (just as we saw two kids come out bawling). Meems and I wandered around and looked more closely at the dino golf while they went in.
They LOVED it and bought Amelia and I a ticket to go in again with Oliver. Meems braved it, and I loved it but was a little worried about Amelia. It was pretty full on scary zombie stuff in a virtual "6D" experience.
Zombie buddy. And Ollie showing Amelia how to work the zombie shooting gun.
A few more attractions to experience and to view from the outside. Kids did a 3pk of the House of Mirrors, The Mystery Maze, and the Fun House together. We bought a couple treats from a fun Candy Store, too.
We felt like we had experienced enough of the excitement of Clifton Hill and the Fallsview, and got an uber back up to the RV where we had left it in an outlet mall parking lot. Hopped back in our seats and started our drive to Newmarket ON to park in our friend Duncan and Cindy's driveway for a few nights.
Driving the 403 and 407 over was an experience. I guess we will get some toll fees in the mail at some point since we managed to get on and off the 407 toll highway a couple of times by accident! We managed to make it to Duncan and Cindy's place around 7pm and were greeted with such a warm welcome by the whole family, even their sweet spaniel, Clover. It's been over 10 years since Jonathan and Duncan had seen each other and it was great to see the hockey friends together again. Their two girls are SO lovely and sweet and welcomed our kiddos into their home and yard and pool immediately. Instant friends. They played a couple rounds of Manhunt right off the bat before we even had the rig levelled. Then it was into the above ground pool for splashes and swims. So fun! A very relaxing evening chatting and hanging out.
Meems and Khloe hit it off right away and Amelia slept on a mattress on the floor of the girl's room, while Ollie had a mattress downstairs in the suite with us. It was soooo nice to have a comfy bed to sleep in!
