DAY 148 : December 2/22 Friday. Monterrey, CA to Palo Alto, CA

Woke up super early again (4:30/5am) doh! It's so cold! Thermometer on the rig says 50F inside. Last night I woke up and covered Amelia two times because her blankets kept falling off the bunk and she was shivering. We managed to stay cozy under our quilt/comforter/duvet combo!

Got up at 7:30am and made coffee and cocoas, then cooked some "Mashbrowns" (leftover mashed potatoes from last night, fried up like hashbrowns) and some eggs.

Watched the last 1/2 hour ending of Star Wars on the laptop and left our site at Veteran Memorial Park around 9:45am and headed for Los Altos to see the California cousins, Stella and Gillian.

By 11am we were driving through Santa Cruz. We stopped in Davenport at the post office (never gets old for me) and had delicious treats at the little donut cafe next door - lemon bars, muffins and donuts.

After the pitstop we carried on until we got to Waddell Beach around 11:30am. This is the beach where Jonathan's big brother Mike likes to kite board sometimes. We stopped for a play and beach walk. I got to dip my feet in the Pacific Ocean finally! xo   Amelia collected a million sand dollars. We put our Las Vegas and Death Valley stickers on the side panel of the rig.  Nice little half hour stop.

After the beach stop, we carried on along the beautiful coastal drive before turning onto Hwy 84 Hondo Drive (?) and through thick winding redwood forests.

Arrived at Uncle Mikey's around 1:30pm. We unloaded the fridge and defrosted it to give it a good clean. I also started on some copious amounts of laundry! Kiddos enjoyed seeing the dogs, Maggie and Jack (who was all snuggles). Ollie got into some Minecraft and Meems got into her lego while they waited for their cousins to come home from school.

The kiddos went with their Uncle Mike to pick up the girls from school. So lovely to see everyone! Gillian and Meems hit it off with intense lego creating.

A little later, Jonathan and Mike drove the rig to Mike's apartment to clear out his stuff (filled the rig!). Stella and I ordered sushi online for delivery and the kids and I hung out for the evening. Stella was sweet with the kiddos and told them they could watch her feed her gecko, Clark, later - but then it got too late. Jay and Mike got home after 10pm and polished off the remainder of the sushi feast after the kiddos were in bed. Jack and I fell asleep on the couch waiting for them, lol.

I had to add this photoshopped image of Amelia... Oliver put a moustache on his sister using the face app. pretty funny. She looks good with a moustache! hahahahha!
