Day 7 : July 13/22 Wednesday. Alces/Moose Lake

Beauty morning with a nice easy wake up around 9:30am. Kids enjoyed their mini Corn Pops cereal boxes for breakfast and we loaded up Al's truck with floaties, the paddle board, fishing stuff, swim stuff and snacks for the pull-thru beach at White Swan Lake a few km up the road. It was already 11am and Al wasn't sure it would be available, but we lucked out and no one was in the spot just off the road. Awesome spot for relaxing, fishing, floating and paddle boarding. No fish to be caught today and the conditions were quite windy for casting.

After a good afternoon, we went back to our campground and Oliver had a nice walk up the lake trail with Aunty Lisa while I snoozed and Jonathan and Amelia battled through a game of Sleeping Queens. We all went down to the lake (just a very short walk around the campsites and through the trees)... I think there's only about 30 sites there in all). Set up our towels and had a great swim. Jonathan enjoyed the floatie and Ollie tested out his snorkeling equipment and mastered it like a pro. Lisa paddle boarded over from the grassy launch area around the corner with Alan on board. Meems went for another ride with Lisa.

Had a delicious feast of rainbow trout caught by Alan last night, and rice and veggies. Alan, Jonathan and Oliver went fishing from around 7:30-9:30pm and Lisa/Amelia and I played her newly designed fishing board game she named "Lucky Catch". The ladies started a low key fire waiting for the guys to get back. They came back happy having caught 7 trout and harvested 3... one of which was Oliver's! so cool!!  Happy Fishers!  We were enjoying a fire and S'mores when Amelia whispered, "Skunk!" and sure enough she had spied a little skunk waddling past Al and Lisa's camper just a few metres from us. It toodled on past the camper and along its way without incident. Another late night in the books at 10:40pm bedtime. This time both kids up on the bunk.

Good Morning!
Amelia snuggled in our bed last night with Jonathan, while Ollie and I slept in the overhead bunk.

Morning coffee and a book... not a bad start to the day!

drive-thru beach site on White Swan Lake, a few minutes drive from our campsite.

Uncle Alan fishing!

Me having a refreshing swim at White Swan. Colder water here than the campground Alces Lake, but still so nice on a hot day.

Amelia armed with the squirt gun.
