DAY 10 : July 16/22 Saturday. Invermere, BC (Alan and Lisa Tenta's House)

Saturday morning! means screen time usually at our house. Oliver managed to hook up after much configuring for Minecraft, and was able to chat with Vincent and play online. Amelia played board games with daddy in the basement.

Lisa and I drove the 5 min into town to shop... as per our Invermere tradition :) We visited the amazing thrift shop and got some great kids books, had a peruse in my favourite shoe store (didn't buy anything, I promise) and also visited Mackenzie while she was working at Inspire, a sweet gift shop in town. Picked up a couple postcards for the kids to send, and enjoyed the lovely gift and kitchen stores. When we drove a little farther to the outskirts of town, we did some awesome deal shopping at Mark's and I got a swimsuit top suitable for "sporty" water play, and a pair of shorts. NoFrills provided us with groceries and lots of treats for the road.

When we got back before 3pm, Jonathan and the kids and I loaded up Lisa's car with beach stuff and we went down to the very crowded Kinsmen Beach/Water Park. Kids were a bit shocked at first, especially after having had the Alces Lake pretty much to themselves for four days! Oliver was nonplussed and refused to go in the water. Amelia was game to put her lifejacket and snorkel mask on and swim with Jonathan and I to the slide and back. We had been advised to dry off immediately to avoid swimmer's itch. Meems and I walked over to the splash park to have an extra rinse off and it was quite fun! we both got soaked by surprise a couple of times.

Back to the house for delicious deer burgers (Uncle Owl had harvested the deer himself when hunting). Oliver had some pellet rifle time with Uncle Owl and was a pretty good shot! When Amelia had a turn, she hit the target on her first shot and called it good!

We looked online for information about Silverwood (our next destination) and booked a campsite there for Monday/Tuesday night. Also placed our first HARVEST HOST request for a little family farm in Idaho to camp at Sunday night.

Deer burgers!!

Kinsmen Beach: Ollie wasn't interested in going in the water, and found it more fun to fling a giant buoy with daddy.

Kinsmen Beach in Inveremere, BC... Amelia went for a swim with daddy and I and swam to the big floating slide. She was nervous to go down it, but did it! We had to dry ourselves off right after to avoid Swimmer's Itch 😳

Shooting the pellet rifle with Uncle Owl was a highlight! "TwoSpoons" Oliver and "One Shot" Amelia became their new nicknames.
